About Me and Finding My Voice Through Art

My name is Alyssa Cervantes, and I would like to welcome everyone to my first blog. Since I was young, I have always had an active imagination. I just didn't know how to express it. So, when I first started creating, I didn’t know exactly what I was doing or what exactly to put on paper. It wasn't until middle school where I first began to draw in sketchbooks. My early works were experiments, trying different styles and materials to see what felt right. Over time, I realized that my art is a reflection of my experiences and emotions. Each piece tells a story, whether it’s about joy, struggle, or moments of quiet reflection.

Art became my way of communicating when words fell short. It’s a personal language that connects me to others without needing explanation. Sharing my work feels like sharing a part of myself, and that is both exciting and a little scary.

What Inspires My Creations

Inspiration comes from many places. Nature, everyday life, entertainment such as movies, shows, games, etc., and even dreams all feed into my creative process. I often find myself drawn to colors and music which tend evoke certain feelings and give me the motivation to create. Sometimes, a simple moment sparks an idea: a walk in the park, a conversation, or a song. I keep a sketchbook handy to capture these sparks before they fade.

How I Keep Growing as an Artist

Growth in art comes from practice, curiosity, and openness to new ideas. I challenge myself by trying new techniques and materials, learning from other artists through workshops and online tutorials, reflecting on feedback and using it constructively, and setting small goals to complete projects regularly. Each step forward deepens my understanding of my own style and expands what I can express.
